The Nashville 2011 Home Education Expo is May 20-21, 2011, at the Nashville Expo Center in Tennessee (formerly known as the TN State Fairgrounds), and Karen Costello will be presenting two must-see workshops (both workshops will be presented in Annex 3).

“Simplifying to Find the Joy”

Do you feel you are walking on a tightrope of sanity balancing “one-too-many” things? How can we do all that we are called to                          do? Learn how to make joy a priority while minimizing unnecessary stresses.You can balance academics, character training, and                      home management in the midst of a normal, chaotic homeschool environment. Would you love to recapture the excitement and committed purpose you first experienced at the beginning of homeschooling? Mid-Winter Conference for Home Educators

The Mid-Winter Conference for Home Educators will be January 28-29, 2011, in Hudsonville, MI, and Karen will be speaking on Friday night, January 28.  The Mid-Winter Conference for Home Educators is dedicated to building up and encouraging all home educating parents as they nurture, train, and disciple their children at home using the unique tools and wisdom God provides for them.

Karen and her book, Go Fly a Kite! Ten Surprising Strategies for Success in Your Homeschool, will be the featured speaker of the Mid-Winter Conference’s Meet the Author section.

The Heart of Homeschooling: Competence, Confidence, & Curricula

On Saturday, September 18, Karen presented a 5-hour homeschooling seminar to a diverse group of homeschooling moms. The seminar was a great success, and Karen plans on continuing this annual tradition. If you missed the seminar, be watching the website for information about ordering the video footage and custom-made packets full of essential homeschooling resources that Karen put together for every attendee. The “Heart of Homeschooling Seminar Package” will be available soon.

August 7, 2010 -

The SAT:2010 Home Educator’s Conference will be hosting three veteran home school moms & authors: Joanne Calderwood, Mimi Davis, and Karen Costello.  The conference is from 9:00am – 3:00pm on Saturday, August 7, at Belmont Church (68 Music Square East, Nashville, TN 37203), and it is $25 pre-pay through PayPal or $35 at the door.  Visit SAT:2010 Home Educator’s Conference for more information.

Costello’s mission is to encourage new home-schooling families and energize veteran homeschoolers. With a realistic and balanced approach to teaching, her philosophy has helped families decrease schooling stress and inspired excellence with her own students and others.  “I seek to encourage parents, regardless of their educational approach, to be creative and proactive in shaping the minds of their children,” says Costello.  Her advice and knowledge has stemmed from 26 years of home-schooling her own children. She has graduated and sent off into the world a doctor, a nurse and an accountant. She is currently educating her 12-year-old.  Author of “Go Fly a Kite: Ten Surprising Strategies for Success in Your Home-school”.

The Williamson County Library is hosting an author’s afternoon with local resident Karen Costello on Saturday, July 17th, from 2 to 3 p.m. Karen will be sharing from and signing her book : “Go Fly A Kite : Ten Surprising Strategies for Success In Your Homeschool”.

With her 25 years of home education, Karen has a wealth of information to share with us. For more details, see the July calendar on our library website.
